Legal Services
Me Flores Echaiz is dedicated to providing personalized and strategic legal support in criminal and immigration cases, aiming to achieve the best possible outcome for each case.
1. Criminal Law
Are you facing criminal charges? Me Flores is here to defend you and guide you through all stages of the judicial process.
For her criminal law practice, Me Flores works closely with Roy and Robert, avocats. Equipped with the experience and skills necessary to handle a wide variety of criminal cases, she can defend you in matters involving:
- •Crimes against the person: assault, criminal harassment, death threats
- •Domestic context charges
- •Drug-related offenses: possession, trafficking, production, and importation
- •Driving under the influence and refusal to provide breath samples
- •Fraud
- •Breaking and entering
- •Offenses under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA): false passport, illegal entry, organizing border crossings
- •Obstruction of police work
- •Theft, possession of break-in tools, and possession of property obtained by crime (receiving)
Even if you believe you have something to reproach yourself for, this does not mean you should automatically plead guilty early in the process. It is essential to carefully examine all angles of each case and your situation to determine the strategy to adopt.
Whether at the release stage, during negotiations with the prosecution, or during a trial, Me Flores Echaiz is committed to supporting you with a rigorous defense, tailored to your needs, and a clear strategy to assert your rights.
The best possible outcome depends on many factors specific to each situation. This can range from acquittal after a trial, to a stay of proceedings following negotiations with the Prosecution, to a peace bond (810) or a guilty plea with an unconditional discharge to avoid a criminal record, or to a reduced sentence. Each case is unique: Make an appointment with Me Flores to discuss the options available to you.
I cover courthouses in MONTREAL, SAINT-JEROME, JOLIETTE, LAVAL, LONGUEUIL, VICTORIAVILE, SALABERRY-DE-VALLEYFIELD.
2. Post-Sentence Conditions Modification
When a person is found guilty of a criminal offense, they may be subject to conditions as part of a probation order or other order. In cases of sexual offenses involving persons under 16 years of age, the court may also issue an order under section 161 of the Criminal Code, imposing specific prohibitions aimed at protecting children.
However, these conditions can sometimes significantly hinder social and professional reintegration. It is therefore possible to request a modification of these conditions.
Examples of possible modifications:
- •Supervised Internet use: Authorized access for specific purposes such as job searching, administrative procedures, or studies.
- •Access to certain public places in the context of employment: Possibility to frequent parks, schools, or other usually prohibited places, when it is a job requirement, such as delivery services.
- •Supervised family contacts: Authorization to be in the presence of minor family members, such as nephews or nieces, under parental supervision.
Me Flores Echaiz deeply believes in the possibility of rehabilitation and in the dignity of every person, regardless of their judicial past. She considers that stigmatization and a purely punitive approach can hinder sincere efforts of personal transformation. That is why she is committed to supporting you in your steps to modify conditions with humanity, empathy, and in a strictly confidential framework.
3. Immigration Law
Committed to the rights of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, Ms. Flores Echaiz's immigration practice is based on a human, rigorous approach deeply anchored in the values of justice, dignity, and solidarity without borders.

Conferences & Workshops
I offer educational and interactive presentations on the ethics of artificial intelligence and the issues of equality, gender and non-discrimination.
All my interventions are adaptable according to different audiences (academic, union and community environments, general public, employers, etc.) and can take the form of conferences, workshops or custom trainings.
Axis 1 – AI Ethics and the Reproduction of Inequalities
The rise of artificial intelligence in public and private spheres raises major legal and ethical issues: algorithmic biases, infringements on the right to equality, surveillance and privacy, disinformation, and impact on working conditions.
I draw on my experience at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), where I worked primarily on AI, human rights and gender, as well as my experience at Algora Lab, specialized in deliberative consultations on AI governance, as well as other academic research experiences on algorithmic discrimination and the impacts of algorithms on LGBTQ+ communities.

Topics Discussed:
- •Introduction to social and ethical impacts of artificial intelligence
- •Algorithmic discrimination and perpetuation of social inequalities by AI systems
- •AI and analysis of the right to equality under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms
- •Gender, AI & feminist theories of technology
- •AI and impacts on LGBTQ+ communities
Proposed Formats:
- •Academic conferences: universities and colleges
- •Public conferences: libraries, cultural centers and others
- •Interactive workshops for community organizations: approach adapted to diverse audiences
- •Deliberative workshops: interactive sessions to gather and analyze participants' opinions on AI implications in various contexts, with possibility of synthesis report
- •Round table facilitation: moderation of multidisciplinary dialogues on sociotechnical impacts of AI
Axis 2 – Right to Equality, Non-discrimination and Intersectionality
As a lawyer passionate about the right to equality and a long-time anti-racist feminist activist, I lead workshops grounded in a legal and political understanding of equality issues, systemic discrimination, and power relations. My approach is based on the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, and an intersectional analysis of systems of oppression.
Unlike some Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) approaches that focus on participants' identities and notions of privilege, I promote a reflection rooted in real legal obligations, the analysis of systemic power relations and collective responsibilities.
Topics Discussed:
- •Legal framework of non-discrimination in Quebec and Canada
- •Direct, indirect and systemic discrimination
- •Intersectionality 101
- •Substantive vs. formal equality
- •Examples from jurisprudence by sector/context (e.g., housing, employment, public services)and by grounds (e.g., gender, race, disability, social condition)
Proposed Formats:
- •Workplace training: raising awareness about discrimination situations and legal obligations
- •Community workshops for grassroots groups: presentations adapted to specific needs/diverse clientele
- •Round tables: dialogue on equality issues in different social contexts
